'Interested in Art. Interested in Jamaica. Sometimes those interests collide as I experience the world globally.'
ART:Jamaica began as a teaching aid for Fine Arts and Foundation students at Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts. in Kingston, Jamaica. From the beginning it has been designed edited and maintained by Jamaican artist, Oneika Russell. Overtime the blog has gone through various changes from acting as a Notice Board, to a review column to features page. It is still evolving and hopefully growing. ART:Jamaica hopefully enables connections which may in some small way discuss, document and contribute to the Arts in Jamaica.

D.I.A is the epic center for the "Global Rock" Revolution. D.I.A is DIA Records (label), Global Rock Showcase (events), Fantra Zine (publication) and Street Ragz (clothing). Social Networks -- Myspace and Facebook have made the now conventional music site severely obsolete especially for the indie entity. Watched traffic to D.I.A's website reduced from 2000+ daily visitors to low two-figure while Myspace evolved into a social network monster including setting benchmarks for the muzik biz in many areas. (So what about Facebook? Currently FB is the #1 "Tower Of Babel" despite decline in popularity. Fact! Muzically FB is still no where close to Myspace. Never the less -- Facebook link to right.) Now what about upgrading DIA-Inc.com to a cutting-edge site? Leaned towards a Jamroom-type site and although a bit sterile, might still feature one in the future. But dude, we still love the grit of "old-skool" sites for a variant of reasons. One should not really give a pig a bath because it will return to the mud man. So after a year of blatant neglect, we're just gonna integrate

It is beyond question that Jamaica is a cultural force to be reckoned with out of all proportion to its size. Jamaica must capitalize on its cultural strength to drive development of a creative industry using digital art practices. Despite low literacy levels, there is the inescapable irony that
certain technology skill sets are highly developed among the least literate, for example, the use of cell phones.
