The Jamaica Veterinary Association was founded in 1946 by a small group of veterinary professionals working in Jamaica. The name was later changed in 1984 to the "Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association", but the current Association is the same body that was born in 1946 and it is thus one of the oldest professional organisations in the Caribbean. Members of the veterinary fraternity are proud of the significant contributions they have made to the agricultural economy and more specifically to the development of the livestock sector of Jamaica. This is in addition to the many contributions to the public health of the nation through the maintenance of a healthy livestock population.

Ian Fleming first came to Jamaica during WWII, sent by Naval Intelligence to investigate U-Boat activities in the Caribbean. It was difficult for him to keep his mind on the war, such was the beauty of the place and its people. It was love at first glance. Paradise on earth. He knew that when the war ended, it was there that he would live out his life, in the sun, by the sea. He had visited a property on the sea in the little village of Oracabessa Bay, which means “golden head.” By chance he had been working on a naval operation called GoldenEye. He bought the property, and when the war ended, built his dream house–a perfect place to heal the psychic wounds of war and escape the civility of civilization. Above all it was a place to dream. And it was at GoldenEye that he dreamed up James Bond, 007, who turned out to be an escape for millions of readers.

Through various showcases and educational workshops artists will learn stage presence and marketing with an emphasis on vocal performance. Artists will also be shown how to look for management and to create a business strategy. In 2011 for the first time we are excited that this event will be produced under the Sunrise umbrella.
